Journey
Foundation
Classical ballet gave me a solid artistic foundation and shaped the discipline that continues to influence my work today. During nearly a decade with the Hungarian National Opera and later as a freelancer, I constantly expanded my interest beyond a single genre, exploring contemporary dance, circus, film and movement direction. Like music, dance transcends language barriers, giving me the opportunity to perform throughout Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.
Film
In 2011 the film industry was very busy in my hometown, Budapest, and I had the opportunity to work on the feature film World War Z. One of the most demanding aspects was learning and performing a distinctive physical language for the infected characters while working under extensive prosthetic makeup. Working on a large international film production introduced me to a very different creative environment from the theatre. I became fascinated by the way movement, camera, editing and visual storytelling are combined into a single language.
During the next decade film was present in my life with shorter or longer breaks. I started as a dancer and stand-in before gradually moving into choreography and acting—these two roles have become my favourites. Film offered me something I had never experienced before: movement becoming only one part of a much larger storytelling process.
Independent Creations
Around 2016 and 2017 I was working on my own dance theatre pieces. I particularly enjoyed guiding a production from the first idea through to the final stage performance. The greatest challenge, however, was sustaining independent productions financially – rather than dedicating my energy to securing funding, I chose to continue learning, collaborating and developing my work through other opportunities. For the time being, I chose to place this chapter on hold, with the intention of returning to it when the right moment arrives.
Developing independent productions taught me not only about artistic creation but also about production, financing and long-term sustainability. Although my focus gradually shifted towards film and collaborative projects, the experience continues to shape the way I approach new ideas.
Perspective
Growing up in classical ballet and later exploring contemporary dance allowed me to experience movement from two very different perspectives. Over time I realised that my relationship with movement had changed. For me, music has gradually become the primary source from which movement emerges.
Today, I believe choreography begins by listening.
